Re: closing the box, plates to rims, jointing back+top to sides ect
If' you're talking classical, I really like Robbie O'brien's approach with building a frame in a mould first, then sanding it on a radius dish for the back and a flat board for the top. Back and top (in this order) are then glued on a solera. To me personally, this is far superior to the traditional...

Re: Glue choice for lattice
Thank you very much. Just installed my first two lattices. Am I right to think that I can wick some west epoxy into the lattice-soundboard joints if I have any doubts over how well they were executed (First lattice had a few teething issues, but the second worked very well). Nothing's loose or buzzi...

Re: Glue choice for lattice
Thank you very much, Steve. Have you tried gluing without pre-shaping on the solera? It's a more complex shape (the traditional Spanish dish in the centre, with ~1.5in flats around the edges), so might not be as easy to shape as if it was a perfect dome. But worth a try. I have thought about pre-glu...

Glue choice for lattice
Hello to all lattice builders! I would be grateful for some advice on choosing the glue for gluing down the lattice to the soundboard. In my current build I have decided to avoid CF and balsa (for the time being), so just going for a 7x7 spruce lattice on a spruce soundboard. The options are: 1) Wes...

Re: What wiring for Trevor Gore style side bender?
Thanks everyone - I've upgraded the wiring and took it straight out of the box. Double bender works like a dream (like every other idea I have tried from the book)! Tested 4 sets of b&s, moulded linings, bindings. One thing I've noticed is that the moisture seems to condense on the steel sheets, the...

Re: What wiring for Trevor Gore style side bender?
Thank you very much for the replies. I have the sockets already and they should stand up to heat. Tried heat blankets in the past and didn't like them, so the bulb idea sounds better. I did the soldering inside the box, assembled the box and then realised that it was not very smart, as solder melts ...

What wiring for Trevor Gore style side bender?
Hi All, I would be grateful for some advice on what wiring to use in the double-size Fox style side bender, as described in Trevor Gore's book. I have just tried test-running the heat box that I have built using heat resistant oven wiring (soldered inside the box, insulated with high-temp glass fibr...
