John
Thanks a lot for the reply. I will take your advice and check when strung up. I thought it was to be tested without strings on but as I said it’s my first time to try side mass so I will wait. Can I assume with those figures that you would be trying to get the 178 down to 170??

Re: Mono mobility (Martin and my TG style) results
Thanks for that but how then do you get just the 104 main air to drop when the other 2 numbers are right now???
Also I only tried the blu tac to see what would happen As I wasn’t getting anywhere with shaving the braces.
I was amazed at the drop in the other 2 numbers with just 30g of blu tac!!

Re: Mono mobility (Martin and my TG style update) results

Re: Mono mobility (Martin and my TG style) results
Thanks again Can I confirm a few things before I take to the tools again... 1 All test were done with guitar finished ( lacquered/bridge/ strings on as in TG Video) 2 To bring 97 down to 95 you say weights but I haven’t put in side mass blocks into the guitar so will reducing the back brace do that ...

Re: Mono mobility (Martin and my TG style) results
Thanks for the response My question now is according to 22.3 in Book 2 the "...main cavity resonance and the main top resonance must not be exactly an octave apart.." 1 My main body is 97 so am i right in saying it should be 95 ( between 2 semi tones)?? 2 My top is 177 so should come down to 170 (be...

Mono mobility (Martin and my TG style) results
Hello all I have done my tests ( pic attached) on my 1st TG style guitar and my Martin OM 28. As I said I really love the Martin guitar sound ( bought new this year) and wanted to see if I could measure my results against it and learn something. The pic showing all my results is below. I’m afraid it...

Re: Monopole mobility again...!
Thanks Dave. I am going to do all tests on mine and the Martin at the weekend and will be getting back to you all for a few tips to see what the most likely culprit is in my not too great sounding build!

Re: Monopole mobility again...!
John Thtats really great that you took the time to respond in that detail...much appreciated and I will be saving that info for my next build! I am slightly puzzled now in that I am not too impressed with the sound ( I tend to compare my sound to the Martin 00 28 ) but yet the figures appear good......

Re: Side sanding dish motor & side bender??
That’s a great idea. If you have a pic of any of the ideas please send! Sanding the rims can be hard going I find and also my side bending could do with a bit more accuracy. I have the sides in the mould and dish underneath when sanding but I see a lot of people have the dish on top and a 25mm pipe ...

Anyone able to have a quick check here???
Hello I have just closed the box on my first TG method guitar and done the tests. I am wondering if 1 I am reading the right peak for the back? 2 Should I sand further the top or expect it to drop from 200 to 180 when neck and bridge are on? I am going by 12-18 in bk 2 where it is expected that numb...

Side sanding dish motor & side bender??
Hello I am trying to up my game as an amateur guitar maker and would like a motorised sanding dish ( I have the dish already) and also a reasonably priced side bending jig that would also help me bend my own wood bindings ( I have a heat blanket and made my own side mould for bending which works but...

Re: Motivation
Funny story .. When I was serving my time as a carpenter the foreman would always make us take 15 minutes around 4pm each day when the place would be messy and do a clean up. It used to drive us mad but now 40 years later I do it all the time in my workshop and have a portable battery hoover that I ...

Re: Motivation
Hello there This is a subject I think about a lot (too much no doubt!!) I build as a hobby first of all. I have built approx 20 guitars...some good some not so good, since 2015. As they have got better I have begun to donate them to various causes. Some went to the local music college who gave them ...
