Thanks asgilbert, wasn't sure the link was going to work.
It's a stunning color that I've used on a few helmets for people.
On a guitar it'll be a one off and hard to part with.
Geez, they are all great, I like the hounds tooth the most. The airbrushing looks amazing too. Col Thank you Col, The Houndstooth is a real attention grabber. I'm looking forward to using the Jarrah / Tasmanian Oak combination again on a future build but with a different pattern. I've haven't clear...
Hi Trent, Interesting.... I'm hearing that a lot with this acoustic. :D Undecided on the official model name for the Redback acoustic, Originally the name was in latin which I could never remember, My wife named it. But I think JLP is more fitting - Jagged Little Pill. RedbackSide.jpg Love the red s...
Thank you Alan, That Houndstooth guitar is a once only top, I'm planning something a little easier for the next one. This model is where I let loose with some ideas. Its actually come back to my workshop for a little while, just to be photographed. I didn't realize how much I miss it. The ECT450 mod...

Congratulations, That is one nice looking instrument. Must have had hell's own trouble keeping the back strip colour from permeating into the back? Were you trying to make it hard for yourself with two different cutaways? Be great to hear it being played. Hi Asgilbert, The back strip is bordered by...
That's come out pretty smart. Funnily enough it doesn't look as weird as one might expect! It also seemed to go pretty quick. Section 8...? Thanks Dave, I worked out the body shape a long time ago when I was employed in the mass production side of guitar building. It is unusual yet reminiscent of a...
Another one from the Asylum of Section 8 Guitars This time it's an acoustic, Camphour Laurel back and sides, bridge and headstock veneer with jarrah logo inlay Camphour Laurel bindings Silver Quandong top Tasmanian Oak neck and fingerboard with jarrah tumbling pill inlays Bunya pine bracing 25.5" sc...
Still a bit of work to do on the fingerboard but its looking pretty good.
Bridge has been made from Camphor Laurel with Australian Hardwood stripe and sealed.
It looks more like a theatre inside than a guitar.
Thanks Mark,
I haven't checked out Mike Doolins work yet, but will putbit on the to do list.
The smell is great even though it triggers memories, I work away and don't realize im thinking about my grandparents old house.
Binding choice was easy, Camphor Laurel with a hardwood contrasting stripe.
Made myself one of those circle cutting jigs, IMG_20191110_171043_060.jpg Cuts a really nice rosette trench and soundhole. That laminate trimmer is one of few powered tools I use, mainly binding channels but it comes in handy for jobs like this. IMG_20191110_171043_062.jpg Time to make the tone bars...
When you can't decide whether you want a venetian or florentine cutaway... 20191030_085357.jpg I've had this idea for an acoustic for quite some time now, Decided to finally build it. Camphor Laurel sides have been bent on a bending iron and top / bottom blocks installed. KerfLining(1).jpg Bunya pin...

Almost there, all wiring and hardware now installed. The satin coat really shows off the timber combo and gold hardware completes the overall look. One of my favorite things in this build is the timber details, the jarrah binding, the control knobs, pickup supports and jarrah inlays for the brand na...
