Re: Bandsaw problems

Hi all, been following this discussion re: Laguna/Driftmaster/Resaw King and had a few comments. The Driftmaster fence uses 1/2" mounting bolts and so you you may have to drill out the mounting holes on your table to take the bolts (the current holes are just under 10mm on a 14 SUV). I considered ge...

Re: Dust Extractor Bin

Hi, I've just been given a 200L clip top plastic drum with the thought of making a bin to catch the larger items before they go through my Dust Extractor. Would be grateful for any assistance on the best way to make it. Cheers Graham Hi Graham, I don't know whether this is the type of thing you are...

Re: Masking tape that works?

anyway, best tape I found, is the 3M green masking tape number 401+ This is the tape that I have been using for binding tape. Works well for that purpose - little or no stretch and sticks well. Also come off very cleanly like blue tape. It is also designated here in OZ as 3M 233+ . However, I have ...

Re: Part for Performax 16/32

Bob,

you could try Gregory Machinery in Brisbane. They were Jet distributors before CarbaTec took over and they used to carry a fairly extensive supply of spare parts because they had a contract to supply schools and had to carry a full range of spare parts as part of the contract.

Re: Pattern Makers Vice

Looking at the list now I would get the Stewmac job as it has a few refinements such as nylon pivot washers, hand wheel crank, urethane lined hardwood jaws and roller bearings on the screw all of which are worth while considering that they are much the same price anyhow. Guess it would come down to...

Well I have been resawing like a Madman , The now Infamous Taree Myrtle , The King Billy Jeff passed on because it was too thin to resaw , some Huon and some slabs of Ancient Kauri and anything else wide enough to Turn into B&S sets , I can only say that the saw works as well as Laguna claims--- wh...

Re: Warning ! Machinery Porn.

Kim, it's still the same 2 bolt system for the standard fence to adjust drift. The only way to make drift adjustment easier is to upgrade to a Driftmaster fence but that is $455 AU. Steve. Great looking saw Paul. 8) I really like the reduced footprint to depth of cut ratio it offers, it makes LT14SU...

Excellent choice, Paul!

I'm not jealous, though - mine is coming in the next container (about 5 weeks)

What blade did you choose to put on it?

Re: Stewmac Go-Bars

You can get it from www.plastidip.net.au I bought mine from an electronics supplier in Brisbane. With the cost of postage there wasn't a great deal of price difference between retail and buying it from the web. I only got a "junior" can - plenty to do all my go-bars and heaps left over. Re: Stewmac Go-Bars

Dear Phil, I "plasti-dipped" the ends of my Stewmac go bars - but still use a some sort of caul between the bars and wood that I am clamping. 4 dips of plasti-dip puts a nice "rubber" end on one end of the bar. Steve. Those of you who happen to have or have used stewmac go bars, did you do anything ...

Thanks for the welcome, Kim! Apologies for using the wrong term - springback is not the correct word for what occurred - maybe curl would be a better term - the upper and lower bout actually curled inward rather than outward (springback). There's no mention of this occurring in Bogdanovich's book th...

Hi all, I used this method to make linings as well and experienced an "issue" with it that you may or may not be aware of - springback. I left the laminated linings sit for a few days and the radius of the curves in the upper and lower bout areas reduced significantly. In fact, Bogdanovich refers to...
