Thanks Pete. I think this one will remain a mystery for now but regardless of species it is nice old wood. Just by way of interest the density is around 600kg/m3 and my guess for ghe age of the wardrobe would be 1940's or 1950's.

Martin I do enjoy my driving but Adelaide is probably just a little far.
I am considering driving across later in the year for the international guitar festival so if I still have the guitar will bring it with me.

Thanks Martin. It does look quite different from the Qld Maple I have used thus far but definitely has the same sort of colour and sheen under finish. I am in Canberra so if you are nearby am happy to bring it over for you to examine up close.
