Main Low Resonance Frequency Results on Hybrid GS Steel String Guitar Build

Recently, in May 2024, I completed an acoustic guitar build for a client who requested that 'GS' guitar box body depth be reduced to make it more comfortable to play the guitar. Most of the 'GS' models that I have built depths was around: 118mm to 120mm at the tail block end and 88mm to 90mm at the ...

Excellent result for an electric guitar build especially since you mainly build acoustic guitars.

Re: Thinning Mirotone

When I contacted 'Mirotone' earlier this year regarding their thinners: Mirotone Thinners.jpg I was advised that using either 1222 or 1220 are very similar and that both achieve the same result as a fast thinner. At this stage there is no indication on 'Mirotone's' Website (https://mirotone.com/) th...

Re: OO cutaway

Joel a very interesting story for a successful guitar build! Every time I build a falcate braced guitar I am always referring back to Trveor's Books and videos for guidance. You next build will have less cursing.

How does this guitar build sound?

Re: Thinning Mirotone

I've been mixing my miritone as per Allen's post for about 10 years now. I started off using miritone thinners but one time my supplier never had any and they told me general purpose thinners would be ok, so that's what I've been using for about 8 years, I just get it from autobahn, it's way cheape...

Thinning Mirotone

I was reading a post by Allen 16th Sept 2014 regarding using Mirotone 3220 (see below) and would appreciate if Allen could confirm how much to thin Mirotone 3220 for Full Gloss spraying an instrument. The post first indicates to thin each coat to around 100% . What thinners do you use to achieve aro...

Re: Walnut bend

When I bend sides on my bending machine generally temperature is set around 280 to 300 degrees F. Once the side bend is completed I reset the temperature controller to 260 degrees F and let it cook for 15 minutes. Then I switch the temperature control off and let it cool down to room temperature bef...

Re: Installation of the LR Baggs Hi Fi and Lyric Microphone Custom Blend System on new Guitar Build

Here is more information to consider when installing the 'LR Baggs Hi Fi and Lyric Microphone Custom Blend System' in a Martin D-18, 1939 Authentic with a through Saddle. The Martin D-18 Authentic has a Narrow Bridge Plate, Rearward 'X' Brace and an oversized Tail Block. For a correct installation o...

Re: Fretboard shaping jig

This fretboard jig looks great and these type of jigs are very good. In 2023, I posted another method using a special shaped router bit set up on my router table. "Radius the Fretboard using the Router Table". It also works very well and is quick once you have set it up. A number of various radius r...

Does the guitar sound better only using two pickups sensor disks or would three sensor disks be better.

I like the thought to clean up and sharpen tools in the workshop. However, for me I am aiming to keep ahead with a new guitar build for a client that is scheduled to start in January 2024. I have made a start and at the moment am making the laminated falcate primary and secondary bracing for this gu...

Re: Installation of the LR Baggs Hi Fi and Lyric Microphone Custom Blend System on new Guitar Build

There has been some interest in my Custom Blend System. I now have an order from a musician in the USA with a similar playing style to Tommy Emmanuel. I will be assembling the Custom Blend System and shipping it to my client who has arranged for installation by a luthier in his new Martin D-18, 1939...
