Re: Notches for braces in the rims
Thank you for your replies. I’m building three OO cutaways and might try different techniques.

Notches for braces in the rims
I’m getting ready to attach the backs to the rims. I’ve seen two ways to cut the notches in the rims, one which preserves the side material and another where the notch goes all the way across so that the brace end is exposed (until binding is done). I’ve read that the first way, assuming one leaves ...

Re: OM size Nylon String Crossover
Do you mind sharing what your widths were at the nut snd 12th fret? I’m thinking of a similar build.
Thanks

Re: Build thread for first Gore SS from the plans in the book.
This is a reply to a very old thread I found via search. My apologies to the admin and forum if it exceeds reasonable time limits. John, I thoroughly enjoyed your thread, since I am beginning down the same path. Your pics, explanations and creativity were excellent. Even the occ whoops we all “enjoy...

Fret cutting with Model Machines saw
Using the Model Machines, or the Proxxon mini saw, and the .023” kerf blade, does anyone feel the need for blade stabilizers to ensure no wobble? Jim Byrne doesn’t sell them.
Thanks, Jon

Re: Attention all Lurkers
Still around. Survived the last 2.5 years of stress and craziness as a doc. Was tough and scary to go into work for much of 2020. Very thankful for the folks who created the vaccines. Had a lot of time in my shop (no where else to go- wife did say, now we have more time to talk, I said, we’ve been m...

Cyclone Debbie
Good luck to those in the path of Debbie. Hopefully she is all bark and no bite, with no serious life or property loss, and maybe just some new down timber for future luthier opportunities.
Be safe.

Hello and Thanks
Hi all, I'm new here and wanted to leave two notes of appreciation: 1. Pete McCurly - seems like a great guy, with beautiful wood and great service. Thx Curly. (No affiliation). 2. This forum - I've skimmed through nearly all 83ish pages on the builders forum, picking off what interested me, and hav...

Re: Maple and Spruce archtop
Will be first archtop if I can ever get off high center and stop reading and start building. Been trying to fill in the blanks of the Benedetto book here and elsewhere.
Again, thanks for showing yours. I learned some new things and the pics help a lot.

Re: A long time between drinks
This is good stuff Pete. Both the guitar and about the kids. I have four of my own, kids that is. Lord knows my wife wishes I had just four guitars. The joy of my life and now that they've all moved on it's time to start getting back into building. Thanks for the great wood Pete. Gorgeous stuff and ...

Rod I'm new here but just wanted to say I've been collecting the wood for an archtop and really enjoy your pics. You've set the bar pretty high.
