Re: New acquisition. Southern Silky Oak.
Hi Woltz,
I've been using it in acoustic guitar necks as part of a laminate but I imagine it would be fine for necks on its own. Mine has been strong, stable, easy to work and not too heavy so it ticks all the boxes in my book. Others may have more expert opinions than mine though.
Cheers
Jim

Re: The Humidity issue!
Hi Pete, I too am working out of a garage with no humidity control. I'm in SE Qld. I tend to set my self up to build seasonally, ie closing the box on the current batch sometime in winter. Yesterday the humidity hit 40%. I had all my braces ready to go waiting for the moment so I braced up the top. ...

Re: Blackwood and Sitka 000 Multiscale
Thanks Greg,
The middle strip is Nth silky oak, the lamination are Vic Ash and Silky oak. (Well spotted).
It's x braced with some very old German Spruce I salvaged from a piano. It's got a hot rod truss rod in and the finished is french polish.

Re: Englemann and Sassafras 000
Thanks for the comments gentleman. Joseph it's standard Martin long scale, and at the moment it is in standard tuning. The fine detail work is slowly coming on Trent, but I still feel like there's a long way to go. I still see things that irk me but when I look back at earlier work there's definitel...

Re: Multiscale bridges
I've got a multiscale on the go too, and have been going through the same bridge dilemmas as you. And ended with virtually the same result- a Michael Bashkin inspired look. I haven't made it the bridge yet but the box is together. The fan I'm going with isn't that drastic (654.05 -Treble 635) and it...
