Thanks Mat, Curly and Lauburu. It's looking like the Kauri is the best match. I don't have any with vertical grain so will probably just split it and use it for bracing. Are there any know issues with stability etc?

Just wondering if some of the more experienced might be able to help me identify some wood I reclaimed from an old work bench.
It is fine grained and approx density of heavy spruce. Thanks in advance.
