Hi Dennis I've read your post and I'm a bit taken back on your views of William Cumpiano! The guy is one of the most respected Luthiers of our time and makes various types of guitars not just Martin Copies! As the judge for a competition most of the time its a thankless task. I'm sorry he didn't lik...

Re: Australia misses out on Mario's wood
I know some of you have had bad experiences with Mario but to be honest I've been buying from him for the last 6 years and everything I've bought from him has been excellent :) I'm really picky about the wood I buy (as I know most of you are :)) and the wood has been 100% as described. I go to his a...

Allen nice mod
For the blade insert on my bandsaw I turned a blank on my lathe and cut the blank into slices.
Once the slice gets worn I replace it with another, it seems to work well

Re: A geetah in a pear tree?
Sorry its the Lowden guitar :) I tried to edit my post but it wouldn't let me :( here is what Adrian Lucas had to say about Pear though :) UK based luthier Adrian Lucas says “I have built a couple of guitars with pear wood. Like all fruitwoods it is tight grained and therefore works very evenly and ...

Re: A geetah in a pear tree?
I have some Pear which is 9"-10" and its similar to the other fruit woods! Heres a classical built by Adrian Lucas (he did all the illustrations in the Roy Courtnall Making Master Guitars book) http://www.guitarbench.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/16um1.jpg He really likes Pear so It should be good ...

Re: What's happening in your shed?
I've had a weekend of tying up loose ends and getting several projects to the finishing stages. First up was a install of a DRO (digital read out) onto my milling machine. Lot's of head scratching and looking at bits and pieces that are sent as part of the mounting hardware, but as usual, they most...
