Re: First Acoustic
My intention is for this to be a long term hobby. What sort of measurements should I take of the instruments to start to get an idea of what effect the sound has on design/construct? As well as physical dimensions and materials you should be doing a bit of tap and Chladni testing to quantify the so...

Re: First Acoustic
That was some nice cooba . It was stuff that I supplied to Chris , sourced from a fallen tree between Deniliquin and Moulmein . That was one of a few sets I'd chased out flat sawn for a different figure . Given that cooba is so stable it seems to have been a safe decision . Lovely work , you have t...

Thanks guys Very pleased. I've got some tiger myrtle for the back and sides on the next build. My intention is for this to be a long term hobby. What sort of measurements should I take of the instruments to start to get an idea of what effect the sound has on design/construct? I've got the gore book...

First Acoustic
Hi All, After a fairly intense 6 week block, i finished my first acoustic guitar. I did a 2 week course last November with Chris Wynne Thomas Lloyd Guitars but due to a significant error on my part I never got to finish the guitar. The 2 weeks was enough to get me the basic skills to get a good star...

Re: Humidity in Perth - Garage building
Thanks guys I don't think my wife would allow me to take over another room. I have sealed the garage door and put a dehumidifier in. Hopefully Steve is right and won't be a big issue in perth. If it fluctuates too much ill have to go the cupboard route. Since the rain stopped the humidity has droppe...

Humidity in Perth - Garage building
Hi All, Long time lurker here. Last year I completed the Thomas Lloyd guitars building course. It's taken me awhile but I have finally claimed territorial rights of the double car garage at home and converted it to a workshop. I'm starting my first home acoustic build in about 3 weeks. I have some r...

First Step into Realm of Acoustic Build - Uke or Guitar firs
Got the timber ready for both projects. I probably have more reference material on an acoustic guitar.
Initially thought that Uke would be easier but now i'm not so sure.
Any thoughts?
cheers

Re: Telecaster and Hello
Thanks for the kind words guys. I've seen the level of detail you guys get on the acoustics and that's a whole new world. I'm already hooked on the building (only done 2 electrics). It seems to have taken over the garage (and the wallet). Got most of the tools sorted now but probably need to get a d...

Telecaster and Hello
Hi All, I have been lurking this forum for awhile and thought I would post my 2nd build which is a telecaster. A big shout out to Tim Spittle who provided a stunning top for the guitar and Perry Ormsby who provided a flamed maple neck blank (both of which are stellar). Next challenge is to do an aco...
