I'm following an interesting, and likely, possibility. I found an ad for a very similar guitar and inquired about its provenance from the seller. interesting suggestion.
hard to guess its age. some things about it - the look of the wood, the condition of the tuning screws, the look of the label - say that it's possible, but that makes it nearly a hundred years old. and the nylon soft case doesn't support the idea.

maybe just a cheapie, but it looks like natural timber. nice base but treble a bit dull.
picked it up in a garage sale. the seller said they bought it in Sydney maybe ten years ago, and reckoned it was aussie made.
