although watch out you don't go to coarse ,but you don't know that till you use them ??

I use Festool tools and vacuum ,a powered face mask and weather allowing router table ,bandsaw . table saw etc outside as they are all setup on wheels of some sort ,a hassle I know but with limited space what can one do .

Hi everyone , I was just putting my 2 bobs worth in on Stags finish query and just wanted your collective opinions on a neck finish I finish my builds with french polish but have used TruOil on the necks as I didnt think french polish would stand up? and I must say I dont like the oil finish ,its ok...

Hi Stag I think the original idea that oil dampened the wood came from the classical guitar makers who were quite traditional and there reasoning was because it soaks in a bit unlike shellac which doesnt it therefore changed the structure of the wood and its tonal charachteristics I think as most pe...

Hi Alan yes I use the pumice and metho ,Im not sure I agree that its labour intensive as its pretty easy Ive also used Robbie Obriens method of just of just the wood dust (preferably from endgrain)rubbed in with shellac to bind it ,this works well but I prefer the traditional method . just the conve...

Hi Jim, I think someone "hit the nail on the head" when they mentioned marketing I appreciate the design and if it wasnt for us as "Luthiers " guitars would still be ....."LUTES" but I think that for the people who are going to spend a lot ,sorry what they consider to be a lot of money on a handmade...
