Re: The ANZUS Guitar

I had an opportunity to hear this guitar last night at Strato's shed, not only does it look stunning, really well finished, but it sounds great as well, nice job Paul, your mate should be stoked with the end result.
Nice to meet you Paul, and put a face to the name.

cheers

Re: newcomer and bunnings guitar

I don't know if there is a Masters store up your way Felix . I have seen nice Red Oak and Poplar on the shelves down here in Melbourne though. Certainly not the cheapest way to buy Oak down here, and maybe Oak is not suitable for your needs. The Poplar could be good though. hey fellow novocastrian,...

The Osage Orange will make fantastic bridge plates. It's very similar to Brazilian Rosewood tonally.

Re: Aussie woods

Geoff, you have some nice wood there and Jeremy is right about finding a use for most of it. Been working with some Camphor L this week and found it was just so unstable, but my mate cut some Jacarandah for a guys lapsteel and it was a really nice piece of wood. Steve thanks for the info steve, the...

Re: Aussie woods

Hi Geoff. Most timber can find a use somewhere... Even as inlay or veneers. Electric guitars are a lot less constrained than acoustic timber choices. Most of your mentioned species could be used with care, but that is going by species rather than by "piece in hand" which is what you would need to a...
