Re: What is "Hand Made"
If one was to make an inlay in a headstock for instance, with a drawing made with vectors on a computor and both pearl and head plate cut with CNC, nothing of the work has the element of hand involved. The work is not crafted, it is engineered and performed by robot not a hand. I think it would be u...

Hi Trevor, Nice work. I am curious about your armrest. Is it carved from one piece or several bent and laminated? Are the magnets simply glued to the inside of the rim or a are they inbedded in a block or splint? Once the armrest is mounted is it secure or does one need to be cautious how the guitar...

Re: wingless bridge, 7 strut interlocking hyperbolic bracing
Hi Jim I see the bridge and bracing as a system, a single innovation. No point in using the bracing with a traditional bridge. The wingless bridge on x bracing or traditional fan doesn't seem practical. It succeeds in being a good first try. I think it's true character will expose it self as I start...

Re: wingless bridge, 7 strut interlocking hyperbolic bracing
Hi Martin. The compensation was set up for gsp ultra hybrid strings(seen in the photo). They are branded by a local SanFransisco institution, Guitar Solo. They are most like Hanambach titanium strings at about a guarter of the price. I started with the set up for classical guitar in the G&G book and...

Re: wingless bridge, 7 strut interlocking hyperbolic bracing
Thank you for you interest, comments and questions. I’m not sure how to answer the question of how I came up with the concept but will give it a try. I am attracted to the strength and density of lattice bracing, yet there seems to be a signature sound that is sort of grainy or mechanical. I hypothe...

Fleta Asymmetric cross dipole.
I've finished my second Fleta and I'm in the process of tweaking the box. I'm committed to getting the closely spaced Asymmetric cross dipole to work. I've been sanding the tops off of bracing to push things around. I think Im close, but it appears that the tap on the treble side is significantly hi...

Re: Fleta Tap
I ended up reducing my brace height. I took quite a bit off the braces to get to my target. Maybe to 3mm . The guitar did sound quite nice. I've just boxed one now and instead of using an "f" of 60 I think it was 55 Maybe even 50. (away from the shop right now so I don't know for sure.) About 1.87 m...

Re: Relationships
Thanks Trevor. I just finished a Fleta from your book. It turned out that I had to remove a lot of bracing to get it to target. The asymmetric dipole did not fall close to the T(1,1)2 98.5, 190, 238. My top had a 8GPa but I thicknessed to f60. Somewhere in the back of my mind it seemed that it neede...

Relationships
I’m curious about the relationship between top thickness and stiffness of an assembled top. Figure 4.4-9 shows that the flexural rigidity of the Fleta guitar is on a par with your falcate braced steal string, almost twice as stiff as a lattice braced guitar. How can that be and still hit the targets...

Re: Fleta Tap
Hi Trevor, Thanks. I already have done some edge thinning. I used some low density Engelmann for bracing, so I added .5mm to all the bracing. Also the back and sides were made from EIR 3mm thick. I experimented with the deep hard maple kirfing by CF re-enforcing. Between light brace material, the he...

Re: Parlor / falcate
Wow thank you for all the kind words!
The guitar sounds quite nice with a lovely full voice. Quite a bit of volume yet very smooth and sweet. The tuners are waverly from stew-mac, I did modify them to work in the strait pull design. Thanks again to all.

Fleta Tap
I just closed the box on a Fleta style classical. My first Fleta and guitar #4. I was expecting to see the "close space top and asymmetrical cross dipole" signiture. If I tap near the were the antinode might be I can excite a peek that I believe is the cross dipole pole but the frequency seems quite...

Re: bridge rotation, brace stiffness and modal tuning
Thanks Trevor Good to know about the Swept Volume. When tinning the edges I was looking more to the main top mode. I didn't want to get to close to target not knowing what the bridge would do. Just taped on, it is dead mass and brought the t(1,1)2 way down. Once glued it hardly brought the frequency...

bridge rotation, brace stiffness and modal tuning
I recently completed my second guitar and posted some picks and details in the Gallery. Redwood Black Limba Falcate. http://www.anzlf.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=5390&p=62091#p62091 The T(1,1)1 was higher than i was shooting for. (95 vs. 90) I suspect that my bracing was on the stiff side seeing how I ...
