Trevor Gore makes a mean cup of tea

Two or so weeks ago I posted on the site putting out some feelers in the looking for a woodworking, preferably luthiery, job dept. Trevor was one of the kind people who offered a visit to their shops/sheds, and I took him up on the offer last week. If you ever receive a similar offer from Trevor to ...

Re: Stinky case

I second the use of Baking Soda. I use that stuff for everything and it's a great odor absorber. I've also used these to soak up some funky odors, though never that China manufacturing smell. Not sure if you can get anything like this here though, haven't looked. http://www.naturesairsponge.com Good...

Plus, I vaguely seem to remember seeing a drawer labeled for banjo bits behind the guy who was doing ...

Re: Questions about string length and setup

Update: Thanks to your tip, Steve, I decided just to hop a bus and check out the Gladesville guitar shop. They were really awesome, (and what a great banjo selection, too!) The string guy, whose name I didn't catch, was patient with me and set me up with some strings. I ended up talking to Rob, Amer...

Questions about string length and setup

Hey all, So I am a complete newb (also, N00b) at this and thought you guys might be able to sort me out. I have a short necked tenor banjo that I play Irish style, tuned GDAE. I've not yet changed the strings on it, and we ran into issues and out of time before I moved here, so my teacher back home ...

American in Sydney, looking for opportunity/experience

Hi all! For 4 years my (now) husband and I have been trying to get to Australia, just to experience living outside of the US for a time, and, Hooray! We've finally made it. The original plan was for me to come and look for work/apprenticeship, (thus being able to go anywhere in the country) and he w...
